CHRISTOPHER HANLON™ Laboratories favour surfactants extracted from macroscopic plants such as Soapwort. These gentle low-foaming cleansers are often the least preferred by manufacturers en masse because they produce an aesthetically displeasing product, plus foaming factor is reduced. However, CHRISTOPHER HANLON™ Laboratories prefer these naturally derived ingredients as it has been demonstrated that numerous isolated saponins and saponin-rich extracts do not have any degrading effect on lipid monolayers (as opposed to several synthetic surfactants). This is particularly importantly for individuals with skin sensitivities as skin irritation can be triggered by the solubilization of keratin by synthetic surfactants. The continuous use of harsh synthetics can possibly produce a negative effect, although not clinically obvious immediately.
